Dear Reader,
The year 2009 marked a turning point for Keith Hockton and his wife, Lisa.
Tired of working long hours to keep up with the spiraling cost of living back home, they began to explore their options overseas.
They wanted to live in a country where their dollar stretched further, where they could enjoy the same comfortable standard of living they were used to, and where they could save some of their hard-earned cash to keep their nest egg in good shape.
A year later, they found the perfect spot and made the move. Today, it's still home to the couple.
Keith explains why, below...
P.S. There's a hidden part of the world where the most luxurious lifestyle is available at a price that would shock you. Where you don't just save money… you supercharge your lifestyle for a mere fraction of what it costs to simply get by anywhere else. Discover it for yourself, here.
A Secluded Beach Rental for $100 a Month

On a sunny day, this island is the most beautiful place in the world. Its jungles glow lush and green, and the seas that surround the island glitter a cool aquamarine blue.

Lisa and I live in a 2,200-square-foot apartment with its own pool and private beach. Our island home offers uninterrupted views of the mainland across sparkling waters. For all this, we pay $950 a month.
For expats and long-term visitors, the advantages of living here go deeper than mere appearances.
Life here is easy, affordable, and low stress. A couple can live well here on a budget of $2,500 a month. You can rent a modern condo in a complex with a pool, gym, 24-hour gated security, and parking for under $900 a month.
Most of the expats who live here took early retirement, something that they wouldn't have been able to do had they stayed put in their home country.

It's also a cultural melting pot, meaning you don't stick out as much as you might in another, less cosmopolitan location.
The locals are friendly and relaxed. It's an easy place to live and there is a comfort factor in knowing that as soon as you step off the plane you can converse in English when you need to.
You can stay here for three months on a tourist visa, giving you an immersive taste of local life.
In addition, it's a centrally situated staging post for further exploration of the region.
In terms of getting around, the roads here rank among the best in the world. The island is only a 20-minute drive from the mainland, and a four-hour drive from the country's capital.
I use a scooter to get around—a new Vespa costs about $4,000. My wife uses the car. You don't need a large vehicle here, and a small hatchback can cost around $8,000.
The infrastructure—including amenities and connectivity—is excellent. Internet is fast and affordable, with 1GB per month costing around $50.
Healthcare is another major advantage. For my money, it's second to none—and you don't have to wait for appointments.
It's simply a case of turning up and booking your specialist of choice. A typical visit costs about $50.
One of my favorite parts of the island is the west coast. The land is emerald green, and the hills echo with waterfalls, flora, and fauna.
You'll also find vast stretches of sandy beaches where you won't see another soul for hours at a time.
There are great-value rentals here too. If you don't mind a bit of solitude and a short drive to town, you can rent a house for as little as $100 a month.
Properties are usually unfurnished, but flexible arrangements can often be negotiated.
Some friends and I once rented a four-bedroom beachfront house for $100 a month. It was simple, but we made it our own.
We spent weekends kayaking, fishing, and enjoying total peace and quiet. No neighbors. No noise. Just the ocean and good company.
Local fishermen would stop by with fresh seafood, and we even left the keys hidden so friends could use the place during the week.
It was a perfect escape.
