Dear Friends,

To those who celebrated Rosh Hashanah this past week, Shana Tova! Wishing you all a safe, beautiful, and fulfilling new year. My baby girl had her first taste of challah on Friday evening, and she LOVED it.

Yom Kippur is coming up next. This week's newsletter is focused on recipes that are easy to prep ahead and throw together, for those who will be breaking the fast soon - or those who are simply looking for some comforting recipes for the fall.

Wishing you all better months ahead, no matter what you celebrate. And to my Jewish friends and family... Gmar hatimah tovah!
STUFFED CABBAGE LEAVES. These delicious stuffed leaves are filling and comforting, plus they can easily be made ahead and refrigerated or frozen until ready to serve. RECIPE AND VIDEO HERE or PIN IT for later.
VANILLA NOODLE KUGEL - This kugel is sweet and aromatic, a slightly different take on a traditional lokshen kugel. Made with vanilla pudding, cream cheese and a crunchy wafer cookie topping, it's a dessert-style kugel that is just perfect for brunches, potlucks and holiday gatherings. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later. Looking for a more traditional Lokshen Kugel? I've got that too, click here!
WHITEFISH SALAD -  Whitefish salad makes a great appetizer spread– serve it atop rye crackers or pumpernickel bread for a dainty treat. Or, make a meal out of it and create a bagel sandwich layered with cream cheese, lox, thinly sliced onion and whitefish on top. It also goes great with a hot bowl of deli-style soup. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
MUSHROOM BARLEY SOUP - This robust, filling meatless soup makes a hearty lunch or dinner on a chilly autumn day. Despite being "comfort food," it is surprisingly healthy. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later. I also have a version with flanken here!
ISRAELI SALAD - My husband grew up eating this salad. It's easy to make, inexpensive, and surprisingly delicious. In colder weather, I use it as a healthy side to lighten up heavy meals. I also serve it with breakfast sometimes, it goes great with an herby egg and cheese omelette. It goes with almost everything, actually! RECIPE AND VIDEO HERE or PIN IT for later.
KASHA VARNISHKES aka KASHA AND BOWS - Toasted kasha is tossed with egg noodles, fat, salt and pepper to create a warm, comforting meal. In America, the most popular noodle choice for this dish is bowtie pasta, leading to the recipe's American nickname– Kasha and Bows. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
CHOCOLATE CHERRY CHEESECAKE PARFAITS - These easy, luscious dessert parfaits combine layers of sweetened cherries, dark chocolate cheesecake filling, cookie crumbles, and freshly whipped cream for a truly decadent treat. They can easily be prepared ahead and assembled just before serving. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
