Dear Friends,

I hope you are all staying healthy and safe! In this week's newsletter I'm sharing a fun baking project (with a fascinating history!) as well as some lighter seasonal spring favorites. Enjoy!

CLASSIC GERMAN CHOCOLATE CAKE  -  Did you know that German Chocolate Cake is not from Germany? Gil Marks shares an in-depth look at the history of this scrumptious chocolate-buttermilk cake with a crunchy-chewy coconut-pecan frosting. I've added a how-to video to this post, making it a perfectly indulgent recipe for you next baking project! RECIPE AND VIDEO HERE or PIN IT for later.
WHITE BEAN BASIL PESTO HUMMUS - Basil and white bean hummus are a match made in heaven. Drizzle with olive oil and sprinkle with pine nuts to complete the flavor symphony, then serve with crispy Italian breadsticks, olives and fresh crudités. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
MOROCCAN PAPRIKA FISH -  There are many variations on red paprika-sauced fish in Moroccan cuisine. I like this particular preparation because it's very easy, light and flavorful. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
SPRING BERRY PISTACHIO SALAD WITH MAPLE BALSAMIC DRESSING - On its own this vegan salad is full of flavor. If you're not vegan, feel free to experiment with it as a base. I've topped it with gorgonzola, feta or even sliced marinated chicken breast for a boost of protein…. all tasty options! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
MATCHA GREEN TEA LATTE - Many coffee shops offer matcha on their menus, but nothing beats making them to your unique specifications at home. Matcha lattes taste great hot or cold. During the warmer months I pour mine into a large glass and simply add ice. RECIPE AND VIDEO HERE or PIN IT for later.
