Dear Friends,

With winter comes the dreaded cold and flu season. Below are some my go-to recipes for when I'm feeling under the weather. Some of the healthiest ingredients also happen to be my favorites... turmeric, spicy cayenne pepper, and citrus... all great for for keeping you in tip-top shape. Stay healthy!

CITRUS AVOCADO SALAD WITH POPPY SEED DRESSING - This salad is the perfect way to brighten up the cold, dull days of winter. For my Jewish readersā€“ Purim is not too far away, and poppy seeds are traditionally eaten during the holiday. Consider adding this delicious this seasonal salad to your holiday menu! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
BRAISED LEMON CHICKEN WITH DILL AND TURMERIC - Chicken thighs are braised with fresh dill and a healthy does of anti-inflammatory turmeric spice - with a pinch of cayenne for just a touch of heat. This dish takes only 5 minutes to prep and another 40 minutes to cook, resulting in a satisfying entree just perfect for a weeknight meal. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
NATURAL HOMEMADE ALL PURPOSE CITRUS CLEANSER - Keep germs at bay with this all-natural cleanser made from vinegar and citrus peels. Clean without the chemicals! LEARN HOW HERE or PIN IT for later.
SCHUG - This herby, garlicky, spicy Yemenite concoction is incredibly flavorful. Add it to spice up your favorite broth-based soup recipe for clearer breathing. Careful, it's potent stuff! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
ROASTED EGGPLANT MATBUCHA - Recently I found myself craving some eggplant-tomato mezze goodness. None of my cookbooks had exactly what I was looking for, so decided to develop my own take on the concept by combining my popular Moroccan matbucha recipe with eggplant. The result is nothing short of delectable! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
MOROCCAN CHICKPEA AND LEMON COUSCOUS SOUP - This fast and easy soup recipe from my friends Julie Albert and Lisa Gnat (Bite Me More) is perfect for a busy weeknight meal. The lemon adds a nice brightness to the soup and it's made with some of my favorite spices, including paprika and healthy anti-inflammatory turmeric. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
KUMQUATS IN VINTAGE JARS - Kumquats usually ripen between November and March, right when we need them to combat the dreaded cold and flu season. In addition to being a power-punch of healthy vitamin C, they're also lovely to look at. Decorate with ornamental seasonal kumquats in colorful vintage glass jars, and learn ways to use this beautiful aromatic citrus fruit this season! TUTORIAL HERE or PIN IT for later.
