The biology of the hair follicle
Hair follicles are among the most metabolically active structures in the human body — constantly cycling through growth, regression and rest phases in a tightly regulated biological process.
That process requires cellular energy. And when cellular energy is low, the follicle is one of the first structures to feel it. Factors such as circulation, inflammation, hormonal shifts and mitochondrial function may influence the follicle environment.
The effects may not be immediately visible, but may become noticeable over time, including reduced hair density, slower growth, thinner strands and changes in overall scalp condition.
