Last year I told you about my friend Jon Schaffer, who spent months in solitary confinement in a cell in which he could walk a total of three paces.

Jon had been the guitarist and songwriter for the metal band Iced Earth, and I'd had him as a guest on the Tom Woods Show before any of this happened.

Jon had entered the Capitol on January 6, and it looked as if the feds had him dead to rights. He hadn't been violent, but he'd brought bear spray with him for protection (he had deliberately not brought his gun, so as not to violate D.C. gun laws), and as it turns out bear spray is considered a lethal weapon in D.C.

So he brought a "lethal weapon" into a federal building. Open and shut.

When I found out Jon needed legal representation contacted my friend Marc Victor of Attorneys for Freedom out in Arizona. I knew he was the man for the job. And even though Jon's case indeed seemed open and shut, Marc nevertheless managed to get him off with probation (before the presidential pardon eventually came along).

Meanwhile, so many people, including professional colleagues, abandoned Jon. His life was thrown into turmoil: he can't plan anything with sentencing hanging over his head, and he has no idea what his life is going to look like months or even years down the road.

Jon came as my guest to one of my Christmas parties for
supporters and just wanted to blend in, so I didn't say a word as I saw another guest solemnly explaining to him what an injustice the January 6'ers had endured.

He knows, I thought to myself. He knows.

I featured Jon on the Tom Woods Show for a second time late last year, this time to discuss his ordeal.

Well, among other things Jon told me he'd lost interest in writing and making music, and that he'd always despised the music industry anyway. So what was he going to do now?

Answer: Marc offered him a job at Attorneys for Freedom itself, where Jon is now happy as a clam.

But this is a story about more than just Jon Schaffer alone. It potentially involves you, dear reader.

Attorneys for Freedom has a program called Attorneys on Retainer -- if you should ever have a self-defense incident, they will defend you.

Members of the Attorneys on Retainer program enjoy full attorney-client privilege, ensuring that confidential conversations with attorneys are protected and not discoverable in trial. And it so happens that Attorneys for Freedom is the only law firm in the nation exclusively dedicated to self-defense cases.

You can access a 24/7/365 emergency hotline, connecting you directly to an attorney from AFF who will remain on your case to the end for emergency self-defense matters. You'll benefit from personalized, expert legal advice tailored to your unique situation.

Three simple requirements:
  • You are charged (or are reasonably concerned about being charged) with a crime (felony or misdemeanor).
  • You can reasonably and in good faith assert that you acted in self-defense or defense of others.
  • The charges arise out of conduct that occurred entirely after you became a member of Attorneys On Retainer.
They will cover your self-defense case even if:
  • You are charged or convicted of a criminal act.
  • You were impaired by any drugs or alcohol.
  • You take a plea deal.
  • The incident is deemed a domestic dispute.
  • You used an illegal weapon.
  • Invalid or no possession of concealed weapons permit.
  • The incident occurred in a gun-free zone.
  • Incident involved a negligent or accidental discharge.
  • You are a prohibited possessor.
  • The incident appeared to be a "bad" or "questionable" shoot.
Coverage extends to members in all 50 states and the District of Columbia, and without the typically endless list of exclusions.

If that sounds like something that would give you peace of mind to have just in case, save $25 on the registration fee when you use code WOODS at checkout:
