Sweet treats for your Purim Baskets

Thursday, February 26, 2026

Hi, ,

A beautiful part of Purim is Mishloach Manot, the tradition of sending food baskets to loved ones. This week, I'm sharing my favorite homemade sweet treats for gifting, plus an easy, kid-friendly basket craft to hold them!

Before we dive in, I'd like to thank our sponsor for making this newsletter possible.

Buttery Hamantaschen: If you prefer a dairy dough for your Purim cookies, this is the one! It produces a rich, buttery, orange-scented cookie that is full of flavor and incredibly easy to work with. The texture is wonderful for rolling and shaping, and the dough pairs perfectly with absolutely any hamantaschen filling you choose to whip up.

Hamantaschen Apricot Filling: Speaking of fillings, this apricot lekvar (apricot butter) is a classic for a reason. It is a thick, easy-to-make filling that will not run or leak when baked. The apricot doesn't need much "dressing up"—the natural sweet-and-tart balance of the fruit combined with a buttery pastry makes for a truly scrumptious, bakery-quality treat.

Cinnamon Babka: A thick slice of babka is the ultimate addition to any Purim basket. Similar in texture to challah but slightly more cake-like, this tender, homemade cinnamon-filled bread is a labor of love that yields incredible results. It is a real treat when paired with a warm cup of coffee on a chilly winter afternoon.

Woven Paper Mishloach Manot Baskets: Instead of rushing out to the local craft store for pre-made baskets, why not create homemade ones with your kids? It is a fun, hands-on way to get the whole family involved in the spirit of giving this holiday.

I hope these recipes and crafts make your Purim preparations a little sweeter and a lot more fun.

I'd love to know—what is the number one homemade treat you are putting in your Mishloach Manot this year? Let me know on Instagram.

With warmth and gratitude,
Tori
