This year, more than ever, I hear people say they were happy they couldn't make it home for Thanksgiving. It is complicated to gather with people we love when we are still angry at their political views, things they posted on social media or what they said on the phone last week. My tolerance is at an all-time low over certain statements and thoughts I cannot agree with. Now more than ever. After a year of change and challenge, it is understandable. Maybe what we actually need most is a Thanksgiving spent with those we care about most, even if we don't agree, and leave room for kindness, warmth and a hug. |
