The Definition of Cozy Is This Family's Cabin in the Wisconsin Northwoods |
When Megan and Gabe Marsh told their real estate agent they wanted to put in an offer on the 1929 lakeside cabin they had just toured, he had one question for the couple: "Are you sure?" It was the dead of winter in the Northwoods of Wisconsin, and the boarded-up home—frosty and dark due to lack of heat and electricity—sure wasn't looking or feeling its best. Plus, there was the little matter of the crumbling foundation. "It just had so much historic character from the 1920s and, shockingly, someone hadn't ruined it," Megan says of the almost all original cabin perched on 1.25 wooded acres in the little town of Minocqua. "We were like, oh, if we let this go, we're gonna kick ourselves forever." |
