A month ago, life handed me a lesson. My partner received a diagnosis that led to surgery just two weeks later. It was a whirlwind filled with uncertainty, fear and a lot of learning. I learned that being there for someone isn't about how I would want to be cared for but about learning what they need. We all respond differently to fear, pain and the vulnerability of illness. My role was to listen deeply, to tune into how my partner wanted to be supported. |
