Dear Friends,

This is my first Mother's Day with my baby girl, and it's certainly not how I imagined this holiday... we had hoped to celebrate with my mom in a brunch - three generations. However, we are truly grateful to be healthy and safe, even if we can't all be together.

If you're lucky enough to be together with your mom, or sheltering in place with a mother figure, I can't think of a better way to honor her than by cooking her a yummy meal… after all, she very likely spent a great deal of time in the kitchen cooking for you! Brunch is always a great way to go.

If you can't spend the day with mom in person, I suggest sharing these recipes and choosing something you can cook together over video chat, or dropping off a few yummy dishes for her to enjoy. Cheers to all the moms out there... and stepmoms, and grandmothers, and dog moms, and cat moms... all moms, from all walks of life. We salute you!

SMOKED SALMON NOVA LOX BENEDICT - Nova lox - or smoked salmon - layered on a toasted English muffin, topped with a poached egg and lemony hollandaise sauce. This is brunch magic at its finest... RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
TAHINI WAFFLES - A healthy, naturally sweetened, dairy free, gluten free recipe for breakfast, brunch or brinner! Made with coconut sugar, brown rice flower, tahini and spices. I like them topped with date honey syrup (silan). Nobody would ever know these are gluten free, they are every bit as tasty as regular waffles, with a slightly nutty flavor that my family absolutely loves. I know you'll enjoy them too! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
VANILLA BERRY SPARKLING SANGRIA - This sweet and refreshing Vanilla Berry Sparkling Sangria is made with fresh berries, rosé, a touch of rum and sparkling water. The flavor is boosted by a vanilla-infused simple syrup. A seasonal delight with a mocktail option! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
HUEVOS SHAKSHUKOS - I grew up thousands of miles away from the Middle East in California, where huevos rancheros is much more likely to be on the menu than shakshuka, so it seemed only natural to give this dish a Mexican twist—a simple vegetarian meal that works as a breakfast, lunch, dinner or "brinner." RECIPE HERE.
LEMON LAVENDER ICED TEA - I've had culinary lavender growing in a pot on my back patio for a while now, and I've been meaning to use it in a recipe. The simplest solution was to turn it into a sweet simple syrup for beverages like freshly-brewed iced tea. The result is lightly sweetened and refreshing. I plan to drink it by the pitcher-full all season long! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
COFFEE CAKE CUPCAKES - Looking for an excuse to eat cake for breakfast? Look no further! My Coffee Cake Cupcakes are here to make sure you wake up on the right side of the bed. How could you possibly have a bad morning knowing that your own miniature coffee cake is waiting in the kitchen, a perfect compliment to your morning cup of joe? RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
DECORATING WITH RANUNCULUS - Ranunculus blooms are a sign that Spring has finally arrived. Here, my friend and site contributor Brenda Ponnay shares her day at the ranunculus fields in Carlsbad, California, as well as ideas for decorating with these freshly-picked spring blossoms in your home decor. INSPIRATION HERE or PIN IT for later.
