Dear Friends,

This time of year seems to filled with planning and cooking for holidays. Now that we have a little down time before planning the next major holiday meal (Thanksgiving!), I want to highlight some recipes that are both comforting and celebrate the flavors of the season. Apples, maple, squash, and slow cooked soups - that's what fall is made of!

MUSHROOM BARLEY SOUP WITH FLANKEN - This popular recipe for deli-style Mushroom Barley Soup with Flanken is easy, savory and comforting. It's the ideal one pot entree for for a chilly afternoon. I also offer a vegan version for those who prefer to skip the meat. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
CIDER CAKE - Recipe and detailed history for a classic American caramel apple flavored cake. Perfect for fall! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
KALE AND ROASTED BEET SALAD WITH MAPLE BALSAMIC DRESSING - This salad will make a colorful and flavorful addition to any meal. It's full of vitamins and nutrients, but it doesn't taste like health food! RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
QUINOA PORRIDGE WITH MAPLE AND BROWN SUGAR - Quinoa is a natural source of protein that's completely gluten free. This porridge is warm, creamy, and comforting. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
SPICY ROASTED SWEET POTATOES - Roasting sweet potatoes in a hot oven caramelizes them, bringing out the best of their naturally sweet, robust flavor. When combined with chunks of sweet Maui onion, kosher salt, chili flakes and rosemary, the results are incredibly flavorful… in fact, they're downright addicting. RECIPE HERE or PIN IT for later.
